First of all i would like to thank everyone who read my post about helping Hawraa.  I really hope that this messages reaches many and that Hawraa gets the help she needs it to live a life she deserves.

I get asked lots of questions by friends and family such as what am i upto these days? well i have a lot on my plate these days (who doesnt though right?!). So i thought i would let you guys in on what is keeping me busy so you know Mayya is not slacking lol

A few things i am working on

I will be having a forum (you might have noticed the link to forum). I am really excited about this because although we have a couple of established  Omni forums none are crafty. Me being the crafty person that i am decided to have my own forum and share the craftiness 🙂 so i am busy getting the forum set up – I decided on the categories just need to set them up online.

I plan on selling my products online using ecommerce. This is in working progress need to finalise the design with Yonici who is absolutely great, i am really thankful to have her! I hope to be able to finalise this within the next couple of months- will keep you posted!

I plan on introducing new items soon wont tell you what the are yet though, but i promise you it will be Unique! 😉

I plan on hosting a giveaway however, i need to plan what i am going to giveaway LOL so stick around to find out!

Speaking of giveaway i have just won another one which was hosted by Nima!

Oh and as i am feeling lucky i entered another giveaway at Fabric shopper for an apron pattern .  The pattern is by Jamie Christina and its called Pretyy Ditty Apron. Not only is it a great pattern but it also has pattern for kids!

I have a couple of orders for the organisers and business card holders that i need to get started on.

I have promised to make my gifts instead of buying them. A good friend of mine gave birth yesterday to beautiful baby boy so i plan on sewing a gift, have not decided what it is going to be yet.

Another very good friend of mine is due to deliver in September so need to make something for her too.

So yeah, i was not kidding when i said that i have a lot on my plate and this is only half of it lol.

Just a reminder tomorrow will be my last post here 😦 i will be blogging at my new website Sew Chic and Unique

Here is my slip cover for Sew It

Sew IT 01

I made it last night and it took me about an hour to do. I think i would have taken much less had it not been going up and down for the iron.

As i moved upstairs the iron is not so close anymore lol

This lovely pillow and its new cover will go to my niece’s room (which reminds me i need to show you her room which i recently painted)

I like the fact that i now can very easily make my own slipcovers so need to hunt down for that perfect shade lol just buy some material and sew it up 😉

Dont forget to check back tomorrow for  feature it wednesay too see what others have made

Sew IT

Its finally here

You  should have bought your sewing supplies by now which means you are all geared up to sew.

This button is the official launch for Sew IT (thanks to my supportive husband for creating it for me) .

If you are participant and have a blog grab the button and have it up on you sidebar so your visitors know you are getting crafty lol and i would really appreciate it if you link back to me 🙂

Now lets get down to business

Tutorial 1

I have chosen for our first sewing project a basic sqaure pillow because they are great as you can spice up a room with different colored pillows and they are easy to make.

The  tutorial is from About.com there are 2 versions the text version and a step by step with pictures which i thought is great for beginners.

This tutorial allows you to create pillow covers depending on the size of your pillow. So find a square pillow and with your tape meausure the width of it in inches to find which instructions to follow.

Other than that I think its a straight forward tutorial and you shouldnt have any problems however, if you do please leave me a comment on this post so everyone can benefit 🙂

Note to Participants:

Once you’ve completed the tutorial blog about it on your blog and send me the link. I will feature all creations on feautre it wednesday (which is when we show off our creations) i will link up to your blog (and have all the participants creations in one place)

Anyone can join in the fun all you need is your creativity and remember take it a stitch at a time

Looking forward to seeing your creations Happy Sewing 🙂

Sew It!

Sorry for the lack of update but Hadeel is on vacation and well let say goodbye to my peaceful mornings! 😉

Now to the topic at hand, you are probably wondering what my title is all about.  Well I love tutorials and have decided to dedicate every wednesday of the week  to share a tutorial and encourage each other to sew.

I have decided to start Sew It

Is this your idea?

No, i have seen many crafty/sewing blogs who have incorporated this into thier blogs the some calls it Tutorial Tuesday. They simply share a tutorial that they found/created and sewed.

Why did you choose Wednesday?

Well its the end of the week (in Oman that is) and i thought its a good day so you have the weekend to prepare and sew.

How is Sew IT different?

Its different in the sense that we will do this together kind of a sew a long. I will post a tutorial on the first wednesday of the month and we have 1 week to sew it and the 2nd wednesday we share our creations I hope to set up a flickr account so we can share pics of our creations. The 3rd Wednesday i post another tutorial and the 4th Wednesday we share, you get my point.

What will the tutorials be on?

I will choose a tutorial on how to make various things (a bag, something for the home, clothes for kids etc) and they will be taken from the wonderful tutorials that are available online.

What do you aim to achieve through this?

I hope to encourage people to try thier hand at sewing and hopefully build a sewing community.

I understand that not many people might be intersted in this and thats fine, i will start sewing these projects with the hope that i will inspire some of you to sew.

I am really excited about this and really hope that some of you will try your hand at this. If you have any questions please dont hesitate to contact me either by leaving me a comment or via email 🙂

Stay tuned for the first tutorial of Sew It next Wednesday the 3rd of June 2009

Arghh am i the only who who wishes we could have more hours in a day? because 24 hours is not enough for me.

I have so many things going on, so many projects waiting to be started and others waiting to be finished. I was talking to my husband about this and he is right that i take on lots of projects, trying to be super woman. What can i do? i love keeping my self busy!

In addition to the above  i am currently renovating my niece’s room. I know, I know, but its high time i did her room and she is going to be travelling soon and there is no way i am cleaning out a teenager’s room on my own!

So as i was saying she loves the colour blue and instead of it ending up looking like mine which blue and red as you know, i am having the opposites wall in dark chocolate brown mmm. I started painting and finished the brown walls just the blue walls left.

We bought a day bed and it will be delivered tomorrow, so i better get busy and finish painting.

I have 4 sewing projects that i need to work on

  • Another version of a organiser with velcro
  • Business card holders
  • A tote bag for me
  • A buttercup bag again for me 🙂

Another thing that is keeping me busy is that i am currently working with a designer on my web page for my company Sew Chic & Unique. So there will be big changes soon and i am so excited and will keep you all posted on the progress.

I still have some leftover fabric and i am thinking of making my self a buttercup bag.  Check out all the cute buttercup bags that have been made by clicking here.
