In May i decided to renovate my niece’s room who lives with us. I will refer to her as R. Ever since we moved into the house which was this time last year, i havent really decorated it. I like to take it nice and slow so its one room at a time.

So this is R’s room before

R old room

Her favorite colour is blue and i wanted to add another colour so i decided on chocolate brown. It took me 3 sample of brown until i found the right one!

The room is still under working progess i plan on having a dest in that empty space, a carpet, a mirror, some paintings and pictures on the walls.

Yup, i painted that room too. It took me two days to complete I dont think i will be painting again. Although i enjoy it, is just such hard work and with the kids around its even harder, cause they always want to “help”. The main thing is that R loves her room so mission accomplished.

The next room i plan to attack after my sewing room is the girls room.

I remember one reader asked for me to give explain how i painted the room and i plan on writing a post on that very soon (just wanted to let her know that i havent forgotten) subscribe so you dont miss it 🙂

Just a reminder that i have moved to my new website Sew Chic & Unique and i will be posting here until the 15th July 09.

Here is my slip cover for Sew It

Sew IT 01

I made it last night and it took me about an hour to do. I think i would have taken much less had it not been going up and down for the iron.

As i moved upstairs the iron is not so close anymore lol

This lovely pillow and its new cover will go to my niece’s room (which reminds me i need to show you her room which i recently painted)

I like the fact that i now can very easily make my own slipcovers so need to hunt down for that perfect shade lol just buy some material and sew it up 😉

Dont forget to check back tomorrow for  feature it wednesay too see what others have made

The craft room has moved up and by up i mean the penthouse and i am so excited.

I traded with Hubby aka J000 I know i just recently decorated my craftroom but i needed a bigger space and my hubby needs a smaller space. Perfect!

It was painted lime green on thrusday and we exchanged rooms on friday. I now have enough space for a separate desk for my laptop, my new Canon all in one (printer, fax, copier and scanner) which i bought from COMEX.

I will have a dedicated space for my sewing machine and get this a cutting table YAY but i need to go to IKEA to get some furniture. So i need to think of how i am going to set it all up.

This time i got my inspiration from this craftroom which belongs to Aimee whol blogs at FroggyMonkey click on the picture to see more pics of the room.

I loved the lime green with the accent of red so beautiful. Plus i have all that red in my room so i needed to find a colour that would match and this is perfect.

Sew IT

Its finally here

You  should have bought your sewing supplies by now which means you are all geared up to sew.

This button is the official launch for Sew IT (thanks to my supportive husband for creating it for me) .

If you are participant and have a blog grab the button and have it up on you sidebar so your visitors know you are getting crafty lol and i would really appreciate it if you link back to me 🙂

Now lets get down to business

Tutorial 1

I have chosen for our first sewing project a basic sqaure pillow because they are great as you can spice up a room with different colored pillows and they are easy to make.

The  tutorial is from About.com there are 2 versions the text version and a step by step with pictures which i thought is great for beginners.

This tutorial allows you to create pillow covers depending on the size of your pillow. So find a square pillow and with your tape meausure the width of it in inches to find which instructions to follow.

Other than that I think its a straight forward tutorial and you shouldnt have any problems however, if you do please leave me a comment on this post so everyone can benefit 🙂

Note to Participants:

Once you’ve completed the tutorial blog about it on your blog and send me the link. I will feature all creations on feautre it wednesday (which is when we show off our creations) i will link up to your blog (and have all the participants creations in one place)

Anyone can join in the fun all you need is your creativity and remember take it a stitch at a time

Looking forward to seeing your creations Happy Sewing 🙂
