I’m Back

I just got back from a week away to busy Dubai and i am knackered.

I think i need a break from the break lol ( I missed sewing so much and really wished that i had my machine at times, i am so glad to be back and cant wait to get some time to sew)

No serisously going away with young ones is no joke. Hadeel was not so bad but Dania was a whole different story. She would not eat much and if she did then it would be very little of it. Her routine got messed up she would nap late in the evening which meant staying up late, and that meant no sleep for me oh plus the waking up in the middle of the night hmmm need i go on?

All in all i had fun and got to spend some time with my family.Whilst there i got to meet a bloggy friend Grace who lives in Dubai ( will tell you about her in another post)

I couldnt be in Dubai and not go to IKEA. They have a part sale at the moment which will last up to the 1st of August 2009.

I bought some fabric of course and have projects already lined up for them. I had planned on buying my cutting table and expedit desk but i forgot that we had the girls lol and because of that we didnt have enough space to bring the things back to Oman.

Good news is that J000 aka as my husband might be going back to Dubai and will pass by IKEA to buy them from me ( this is what i mean my supportive – thanks hon)

That is all for now just wanted to give you a quick update

 Cheers :)

PS. I have now moved to Sew Chic and Unique and will only post here until the 15 of July 2009.

IKEA Curtains

Ikea curtains full

Just in case you are wondering, no i didnt make these i wish i did though but i know it would have taken me ages to complete. So i had them made and i will probably make my next currains in a couple of years time ( I promise)

I love how they turned out, really looks good. I bought this fabric at IKEA for 150dh per meter equvilant to apprx 1.500 RO and bought 6 mtrs which added to 900 dh. I had them made for 5 RO so i spend approx 15 RO in total .

I still have some leftover fabric and i am thinking of making my self a buttercup bag.  Check out all the cute buttercup bags that have been made by clicking here.

It has been a while since i last blogged about my craftroom.

I got the inspiration for my craft room from here . I painted the room you can find my posts about it here and here .

The room is not quite finished yet but thought its about time blogged about it. I still have to hang some things up on the wall, make my curtains from IKEA fabric i got and put up some more lights.

Here are pictures of one side of the room i will feature the rest in another update ;)

This was taken after we had set up the desk and cupboard

This is how it is currely set up I changed the location of the laptop as i felt that the sewing machine was better placed on the right as it was slightly more spacious. (excuse the mess)

Sew many things

You wont believe this but i still have more organizers to sew. It seems that a  lot of women in Oman need thier bags organized lol. I actually enjoy it but i dont get to sew anything else. I did manage to hem some curtains but there isnt much sewing involved.

I have so many things i would like to sew. I have the curtains for my craft room to make with the fabric i bought on my last trip to IKEA. I would like to try sewing a handbag or two ;) i love handbags!

I cant wait to make my own clothes, and clothes for my daughters.

The one thing i find really irritating is that i cant find what i want here. Dubai might have what i am looking for, but what do i have to go all the way there?  People here are so used to having things done for them, they are too lazy to put a little effort and creativity into thier lives.

Times such as this i wish i was back in Perth, or somewhere in Europe. Just so i can get what i want when i want..i have so many ideas but without the right material i cant do much. (sorry if this post is turing out to be a rant, but i just cant help feeling this way)

Craft Room update
Yesterday the shelves got fixed to the wall (although i have nothing to put on them yet lol), the glass doors were fixed to the cupboard ( i put away all my fabrics) so the only thing left to do is fix the lights and for me to do the sew the curtains.
I will have to make another trip to IKEA to buy a table and some more lights for the cupboards and i also need a another rug. There is always something i am going to need from IKEA.

craftroom4

As you can see the craft room is not quite ready yet. It is currently filled with boxes waiting to be assembled, all we need is an electrical screwdriver and drill. Apparently you can rent those for the day, but didnt manage to do that yet as we had guests over for lunch over the weekend.

Here is a pic of some of stuff i purchased waiting to be unpacked

I hope to get it all unpacked and set up before EID which is next week.

Thank you Hubby

My darling husband created me a header! and together afterI decided exactly what i wanted lol (that took the longest time ehehe) we came up with what you see (above)

Although designing and developing websites are his passions, he is stuck in a job which he hates and doesnt have much time to do what he loves, which is a bummer!

He is still at the learning stage but with his fuel for knowlege and doing something he loves i believe he will do wonders, Thank you Habibi for your love and support and of course the cute header (which incorporates the 2 main colours of my craft room (blue and red), the background is a picture i took of the fabric i bought for the curtains from IKEA and its orginally red and white (wonders of photoshop!)

It is simple and i love it

ikea

OH my isnt IKEA the best?! I mean even if you have no interior desining sense you can easily find inspirations in IKEA. Each time i visit i spend hours and hours and dont get bored. I wish i could live in IKEA, its just so cosy and homey.

I mean whats not to love?

What i love about IKEA is that thier furniture is hip, modern, there is something for everyone, a place for everything, thier furniture is affordable and thier packaging is flat so you can take it ride home with you and easy peasy instructions which means you can assemble it! What more do u want?

I really wish they open one in Oman, and i am sure i am not the only Omani with this thought as i saw more Omanis there than Emaratis!! (Emaratis are citizens of UAE)

So i went there to get stuff for my craft room (which i have finished painting by the way!) will post pics once i clean up the place.

No real reason for this post other than to say how much i love IKEA :)
