For months now i have found tons of wonderful blogs about crafting, sewing, decorating. However, i noticed that most of the ladies behind these blogs are either from Europe or America. I mean where are the arabs? Is it because arab women just dont have time? because i know they are interested, i mean they are into fashion, interior decorating and usually if not always they look for most expensive thing in a shop
Please dont get me wrong I have nothing against the lovely ladies who blog, on the contrary i look up to them for being so creative, so much so that they have inspired me to follow thier path. I just wish I would see more arab women be more creative.
Below is a list of why i think arab ladies are not into DIY stuff in general:
- Why should i do it? when i can hire someone?
- I want to do it but dont know how!
- I just dont have the time, these things are time consuming
- These kind of crafts need a creative mind, i am not creative!
- The things i need are not available where i come from
- I do craft but i dont like to share my ideas/designs with everyone, i just do it for my family/business
To all the ladies who give these excuses there is just one thing i have to say, you are missing out!
Whilst reading the blogs such as crafty mamas they simply love what they do. Sewing, scarpbooking, interior decorating, whatever it is they do not only do they do it well but they ENJOY it. They even show us how to do it and are always willing to help you, all you have to do is ASK!
I have always loved sewing and interior decorating but honestly when i was single was not really into it, i remember my mum even tried to teach me once but i was more intrested in going on line and catching up with my friends ( i could honestly kick my self for letting that chance go). When i got married didnt have the time with looking after the house, kids and a full time job. But now that i am at home i feel that i have some free time on my hands.
I for one have always thought that i was not creative, but you really dont have to be, of course if you are its an added factor but the thought of creating something to use at home, or for the girls just gets my blood flowing.
I would love to be able make gifts, instead of buying of them, sew my girls dresses, matching pillows for the sitting room with the kind of material/colour I WANT! I mean the list is endless i have saved so many projects to do (after i start my course next month, of course). Anyhow my point of this post was to highlight to women that you can do whatever you want, all you have to do it try and believe in yourself.
