I have great news to share with you

i am going to be featured in Hi!

HI! is a  free weekly newspaper which comes out every Friday and can be picked up from various locations in Oman. So make sure you pick one tomorrow to read about ME :)

I tried searching for a pic of the newspaper but was unable to get one . However, i did manage to find a picture which contains the english media in Oman (Hi is the 2nd one to your right – above Times of Oman)

Picture taken from Oman Pocket Guide

I am really excited about this i was approached by Karima who is a reporter for HI she stumbled on pictures of my organisers on facebook , found my blog and has become a regular reader ever since. When she read that i was participating at the Bank Muscat Charity Fair she came to meet me and of course ended up buying an organiser! (they are a must have item )

We instantly clicked and had lots to talk about and laugh about. She is such a sweet person and instantly makes one feel at ease.  Great characteristics of  a successful reporter :)

So it came as no surprise when i agreed to be interviewd by Karima. We met a few days back and its confirmed i am going to be the Omani Talent for Hi which is out tomorrow.

My life as i know it

It has been a while since i shared pictures of my girls.

MY Princesses

Dania is now 1 year and 4 months nearly has a full set of teeth which she wont let me brush lol and still doesnt not talk much apart from saying mama, baba, asfo by that she means asfoor which translates into bird in arabic, nana = my mum, bibi = her other grandmother.

Hadeel is a little madame  know what she wants, when she wants it and how she wants it. Take for example now she has asked me if i could make her a drink Tang (its a powered flavored drink) so she wants 3 flovours (which she will show me with her cute little fingers and name them (orange, pinapple and mango) and she wants ice with that too oh and she wants it now!! lol

They have started playing together now and by that i mean running around, screaming and shouting and lots of it that is thier idea of fun!

Its funny how sometimes they would play together and be the best of friends and less that 2 mins later  its the ultimate sister rivalry.

Having said all of that i cant imagine my life without them

Life is busy at the moment with the kids and setting up and running my business and i love it.

My husband and I celebrated 6 years yesterday of being married. I cant belive that it has been 6 years since i became a wife, i devoted my love to a wonderful, caring and loving man. I have been blessed with a man who is not only the love of my life he is also my best friend.

J000 i shall love you always and foerver

Having been a musician the past 15 years of my life i am sure some people might wonder why out of all the hobbies in the world did i choose sewing.

The thing is i am too sure i choose sewing, its actually weird saying this but sewing choose me :)

It all started out as a hobby, i decided to leave work to be able to spend time with my girls as opposed to arriving home at 7pm and just in time to tuck them into bed.

Thoes who know me personally know that i am not the type of person to sit at home and watch tv all day long (i admit i might do it for a day or two and soon get bored). I needed something new, something challenging, something that could turn into a passion. My ultimate goal was to find something i love and just maybe be able to make a living out of it.

Well  after all that here are 10 reasons why i love sewing

  1. Its wonderful to be home with the girls and be able to do something i enjoy
  2. Its fun, one can make soooooo many things (bags, clothes, pillows, curtains the list is endless.)
  3. It gives me a sense of accomplishment that i made something out of nothing
  4. I can sew cute outfits for my girls
  5. I never knew sewing could be so relaxing, its my stress reliever
  6. Time flies when i sew, i could sit for hours!
  7. I love the fact that i will be able to teach my daughters how to sew (if they want to learn that is)
  8. I can sew my own clothes *yay* no more odd length sleeves
  9. I can make gifts instead of buying them
  10. I always knew that i wanted to run my own business doing something i enjoy and has made this possible.

I could add more to the list but didnt want to bore you, the above sums it all up. Hope you this makes you understand why i am a sewing addict :)

Why sewing?

I know that when i really put my self into anything i will perfect it. I was previously a muscian, a violinist actually i started at the age of 8 and did that for 16 years! So i know that “practice makes perfect” and that “close enough is not good enough” and these are things i belive will help me when i am sewing!

Out of all the things in the world, why choose sewing? well, why not?

Sewing is one of thoes things that i feel i should have learned at a young age. My poor mum did try but i didnt see the use of it at the time! (i know, what was i thinking?!)

We always had a sewing machine in the house, i remember our housemaid at the time used to make my home dresses. My mum and her sisters  sew, knit,  and cross stich and just the other day mummy made my girls H and D thier sweaters and jumpers for winter!

I didnt realise at the time but sewing is so handy, you can sew almost anything, from dresses, to pillows, to curtains, baby clothes, bags, clothes i mean the list is endless.

But here are the main reasons i want to learn sewing

  • to be able to hem our curatins at home
  • to make curatins for my craft room from the IKEA fabric i bought
  • i want to sew my girls dresses
  • i want to make my own hand bags, i looooovvveee bags how kewl would it be to make my own!
  • I would love to be able to make my own clothes, i am quite tall and blouses never fit me right, the long sleeves are always too short!

Sewing is a world in itself, so many women and men have mastered the art of sewing and reading blogs of women who sew and seeing the things the make inspires me to do the same.
