My tissue box cover

It has been more than 2 weeks since i have made something until yesterday.

I finally made the tissue box cover which was intended for the last Sew IT tutorial which i missed because i was in Dubai.

This is how mine turned out

The tutorial was easy to follow however, this was not perfect. I think i need to make a couple more. The good thing is now i dont have to search high and low for a tissue box cover i simply make my own for every room!

The fabric looks familiar?! I used my IKEA fabric which was intended for curtains for my previous craft room.

Feature it Wednesday – Pillow Cover

Today is Feature it Wednesday which means you get to see what we have created for Sew It.

Last Wednesday i posted a tutorial on how to sew a pillow slip cover.

Sew it – Pillow Cover

Here is my slip cover for Sew It 

I made it last night and it took me about an hour to do. I think i would have taken much less had it not been going up and down for the iron.

As i moved upstairs the iron is not so close anymore lol

This lovely pillow and its new cover will go to my niece’s room (which reminds me i need to show you her room which i recently painted)

I like the fact that i now can very easily make my own slipcovers so need to hunt down for that perfect shade lol just buy some material and sew it up

Let’s Sew IT

Its finally here

You  should have bought your sewing supplies by now which means you are all geared up to sew.

This button is the official launch for Sew IT (thanks to my supportive husband for creating it for me) .

Now lets get down to business

Tutorial 1

I have chosen for our first sewing project a basic sqaure pillow because they are great as you can spice up a room with different colored pillows and they are easy to make.

The  tutorial is from About.com there are 2 versions the text version and a step by step with pictures which i thought is great for beginners.

This tutorial allows you to create pillow covers depending on the size of your pillow. So find a square pillow and with your tape meausure the width of it in inches to find which instructions to follow.

Other than that I think its a straight forward tutorial and you shouldnt have any problems however, if you do please leave me a comment on this post so everyone can benefit

More time

Arghh am i the only who who wishes we could have more hours in a day? because 24 hours is not enough for me.

I have so many things going on, so many projects waiting to be started and others waiting to be finished. I was talking to my husband about this and he is right that i take on lots of projects, trying to be super woman. What can i do? i love keeping my self busy!

In addition to the above  i am currently renovating my niece’s room. I know, I know, but its high time i did her room and she is going to be travelling soon and there is no way i am cleaning out a teenager’s room on my own!

So as i was saying she loves the colour blue and instead of it ending up looking like mine which blue and red as you know, i am having the opposites wall in dark chocolate brown mmm. I started painting and finished the brown walls just the blue walls left.

We bought a day bed and it will be delivered tomorrow, so i better get busy and finish painting.

I have 4 sewing projects that i need to work on

• Another version of a organiser with velcro
• Business card holders
• A tote bag for me
• A buttercup bag again for me

Another thing that is keeping me busy is that i am currently working with a designer on my web page for my company Sew Chic & Unique. So there will be big changes soon and i am so excited and will keep you all posted on the progress.

IKEA Curtains

They are done and they look great in my craft room. But dont take my word for it have a look for your self.

 

Just in case you are wondering, no i didnt make these i wish i did though but i know it would have taken me ages to complete. So i had them made and i will probably make my next currains in a couple of years time ( I promise)

I love how they turned out, really looks good. I bought this fabric at IKEA for 150dh per meter equvilant to apprx 1.500 RO and bought 6 mtrs which added to 900 dh. I had them made for 5 RO so i spend approx 15 RO in total .

I still have some leftover fabric and i am thinking of making my self a buttercup bag.  Check out all the cute buttercup bags that have been made by clicking here.

More purse organizers

It has been a busy sewing weekend. I sewed 3 purse organziers from my sisters in law.

I hope they like them…

Craft Room update
Yesterday the shelves got fixed to the wall (although i have nothing to put on them yet lol), the glass doors were fixed to the cupboard ( i put away all my fabrics) so the only thing left to do is fix the lights and for me to do the sew the curtains.
I will have to make another trip to IKEA to buy a table and some more lights for the cupboards and i also need a another rug. There is always something i am going to need from IKEA.

RealLiving Magazine

I love interior decorating and when i was in Australia i got hooked on reading thier magazine Real Living . This magazine is my absolute favorite as it shows how you can achieve a gorgeous look at a reasonable price. The magazine also include delicious recipes.

Unfortunately i dont get the magazine anymore due to be being in Oman. Sad that i cant get it at Borders either, I am thinking of subscribing to them however until i do i like to read thier homepage RealLiving and i just found out they have a blog

Still not finished

As you can see the craft room is not quite ready yet. It is currently filled with boxes waiting to be assembled, all we need is an electrical screwdriver and drill. Apparently you can rent those for the day, but didnt manage to do that yet as we had guests over for lunch over the weekend.

I hope to get it all unpacked and set up before EID which is next week.
