Its not perfect but its not bad for my first attempt. Its a flower pincushion however, the petals are not quite even i think i stuffed it too much. Anyhow it serves the purpose and i love it!

I used this tutorial i found on Whip Up. I used a CD as a template (which i think is too small might need something bigger for my next one). The white button is my daughter’s hair ties bobbles believe it or not! The elastic broke a couple of months back and i kept it as i knew it would come in handy one day.
When reading through the tutorial at one point it asked to slip stitch and i had no idea how to do that. Anyway i knew that i would find a tutorial online. I am a visual person and learn best when i see how things are done.
I found a great video tutorial by Dawn Anderson at Monkeysee.com

Cute, Cute, Cute!
Thank you, thank you, thank you
wow…that looks pretty
Thanks Nima, the only problem i am having with it is i have to be careful when sticking in the pins, not to press it in too deep. Otherwise i end up pricking myself on the other when.
There must be something you could put in the bottom of the pincushion under the filling so you don’t get poked. I’m thinking those flexible cutting boards from IKEA. You could cut out a circle and voila – no more pokes.
Oh how I wish IKEA was closer to us…
I know if only IKEA had an outlet here, we so need one!!
Hmm i dont think i have ever seen the flexible cutting boards you are refering to, will have a look next time i make a trip to Dubai.
I don’t remember the flexible cutting board in IKEA. can we fix it inside the picushion or outside….
mamti, i have a circular pincushion that i made long back , in that i fixed the top piece with the polyfill inside on a card board (nothing heavy, just the cereal box cover) and the bottom piece on another cardboard. i stick 2 pieces together with glue and to hide the mess in the middle i covered it with a thin rope like thing . so if we keep the pin, it will not come from other side.
yday when i saw your post, i tried to make a pincushion like yours with cardboard inside, but it will not give the same effect of the flower/pumkin look…so i finished it like yours.
